A22 10 DEEP DESAI
The Pushkar lake with its ghats and numerous temples around it.
Focusing on the change in level of water, which is higher during the times when the fair takes place compared to the summers when the water resides due to evaporation.
The ghats and the shiv mandir in the middle of the lake gets separated when the water level rises making it inaccessible as shown by the levels in the image on the left
The experience of the spaces changes when water is filled and as the temple gets separated from the ghats.
The intent is to create a temporal interphase that plugs in the gap between the ghats and the temple to acclimate one to the changed surroundings. Using the language of the ghats itself to do so and referring to the form of a causeway which is a form of bridge that has solidness to it, which the ghats also have.
The formwork of the intervention is derived by laying a grid over the rectangular shape like that of a causeway
Further modulating the rectangles into different shapes to get a seamless structure that does not feel like a bridge but an extension to the ghats itself..
